2. Ethical Stance on Historical Items

  • Garrison Point website offers historical militaria for educational, historical research, and legitimate collecting purposes only.  Garrison Point Ltd do not support or condone any form of hatred, racism, discrimination, or violence associated with the ideologies or regimes represented by certain historical items, including those from the Third Reich. These items are sold strictly as artifacts of historical interest and are intended for display and study within a responsible and respectful context. Garrison Point Ltd strongly discourage any attempt to glorify, promote, or revive these ideologies. By purchasing such items, you acknowledge and agree to use them solely for their intended historical and educational value.

3. Product Information & Accuracy

At Garrison Point, we are dedicated to providing accurate and detailed information for every item in our collection. We understand that precision is paramount to collectors and enthusiasts of militaria.

  • Product Descriptions: Items are brought from reliable sources, meticulously research and describe each item to the best of our ability, providing comprehensive details on its provenance, historical context, materials, and features. Due to the unique, historical, and often 'second-user' nature of militaria, slight variations, imperfections, or wear consistent with age and previous use are inherent and are considered part of the item's character and authenticity.
  • Detailed Descriptions and Pictures: Every product listing features a comprehensive written description outlining its condition, including any significant defects, repairs, or alterations, which will be clearly noted. These descriptions are complemented by high-resolution photographs taken from multiple angles to offer the clearest possible visual representation. Photographs are considered an integral part of the item's description. While we endeavour to ensure colour accuracy, please be aware that colours may vary slightly depending on your monitor settings or lighting conditions.
  • Measurements & Dimensions: Approximate measurements and dimensions are on request for all items. These are taken to the best of our ability, but minor discrepancies may occur due to the nature of the items and measurement techniques.
  • Intent of Use Disclaimer: All items are sold purely as collector's display pieces, historical artefacts, or for educational research purposes. They are not intended for actual wear, operational use, or any purpose other than what is explicitly stated within their description. We disclaim responsibility for any misinterpretation or misuse contrary to their stated purpose.
  • Errors and Omissions: While we strive for complete accuracy, errors or omissions in product descriptions, pricing, or availability may occasionally occur. We reserve the right to correct any such errors, inaccuracies, or omissions and to change or update information at any time without prior notice (including after you have submitted your order). In the event of a significant error regarding an item you have ordered, we will notify you and provide options, including cancelling your order.
  • Pricing: All prices are clearly displayed and include VAT (if applicable). All prices are subject to change without prior notice.

4. Ordering & Payment

This section outlines the process for placing orders and the terms governing payment for your purchases from Garrison Point.

  • Order Placement Process: To place an order, simply select your desired items and add them to your shopping cart. You will then proceed to the checkout, where you will be prompted to provide necessary shipping and billing information. Please ensure all details are accurate and complete before submitting your order.
  • Order Acceptance & Contract Formation: Your placement of an order constitutes an offer to purchase the selected items from Garrison Point. An order acknowledgement email will be sent to confirm receipt of your order request. However, this acknowledgement does not signify our acceptance of your offer. A legally binding contract between you and Garrison Point is formed only when:

  1. We have received full payment for your order.
  2. We have successfully completed all necessary age and/or exemption verifications (as detailed in our 'Age Verification for Restricted Items' and 'UK Law & VCR Act Compliance for Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIFs)' sections).
  3. We have dispatched the goods to you. At this point, you will receive a dispatch confirmation email.
  4. We reserve the right to decline any order for any reason, including but not limited to, stock availability, failure of verification checks, or pricing errors.

  • Pricing & Currency: All prices displayed on our website are in Great British Pounds (£GBP) and include VAT where applicable. Delivery charges are additional and will be calculated and displayed at checkout, based on the size, weight, and destination of your order. Prices are subject to change without prior notice, but the price you see at the time of order submission will be the price charged, unless a clear error is identified.
  • Payment Methods: We accept payment via [List all accepted payment methods, e.g., major credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay]. All payments are processed through secure, encrypted payment gateways to ensure the safety and confidentiality of your financial information. We do not store your full payment card details on our servers.
  • Stock Availability: All orders are subject to stock availability. While we endeavour to keep our stock levels accurate, due to the unique nature of many militaria items, discrepancies may occur. If an item you have ordered is unexpectedly out of stock or becomes unavailable after your order is placed, we will notify you promptly and offer a suitable alternative, a full refund, or the option to wait for replenishment if applicable.
  • Restrictions on Sales & Verification: Please be aware that certain items, including but not limited to knives, edged weapons, and Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIFs), are subject to strict legal restrictions in the UK. As stated elsewhere in our Terms & Conditions:

  1. Knives & Edged Weapons: Are sold strictly to individuals aged 21 years or over, and require mandatory age verification via video call, showing specific ID and proof of address.
  2. Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIFs): Are sold only to individuals or organisations holding valid legal exemptions under the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006, requiring verifiable documentary proof and a final confirmation via video call or in-person meeting.
  3. Orders for these restricted items will not be processed or dispatched until all required verifications are successfully completed to our satisfaction. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in order cancellation and a refund, potentially minus any non-refundable processing fees incurred (as detailed in our 'Returns & Refunds' section).

  • Layaway / Payment Plans (If Offered): If we offer layaway or payment plans, specific terms and conditions for such arrangements will be clearly outlined on the relevant product page or in a dedicated policy. These terms will include details on payment schedules, minimum deposits, duration, and any applicable non-refundable components or cancellation policies specific to layaway agreements.
  • Order Cancellation by Garrison Point: We reserve the right to cancel any order at our sole discretion, including but not limited to: * Issues with payment processing. * Inability to verify customer age or exemption status for restricted items. * Suspected fraudulent activity. * Unavailability of stock. * Errors in pricing or product information. In such cases, you will be notified, and a full refund (or partial refund if non-refundable fees apply, as per our 'Returns & Refunds' policy) will be issued.
  •  International Transactions: For international orders, payments will be processed in GBP. Your bank or payment provider may apply currency conversion rates and additional fees. You are solely responsible for these charges and for ensuring that the total amount paid covers the full order value in GBP.

5. Age Restrictions & Legal Compliance

In strict compliance with UK law, which sets the minimum age for knife sales at 18, Garrison Point has established a higher age restriction. Therefore, the sale of all knives and edged weapons, airsoft guns, and replica firearms (and potentially other categories) is strictly restricted to individuals aged 21 years or over.

All restricted items are clearly marked on our website. To ensure legal compliance and the safety of our community, all purchases of these items are subject to mandatory age verification. You'll need to provide proof of age via a live video call. During this call, you must clearly display:

  1. Your full face clearly visible.
  2. Your valid driving license or passport, held next to your face for clear comparison and verification of your date of birth.
  3. A recent utility bill (dated within the last 3 months) clearly showing your name and the delivery address matching your order.

  • Your order won't be processed or dispatched until successful age verification is completed. If you can't provide satisfactory proof of age within [e.g., 7 days] of your order, we'll cancel your order and issue a refund, minus any non-refundable processing fees incurred. We reserve the right to refuse sale to anyone who doesn't meet these age verification requirements. By proceeding with an order for a restricted item, you confirm you're 21 or over and consent to this verification process.
  • Strict Age Verification: This is paramount for militaria. Clearly state that the sale of knives, edged weapons, airsoft guns, and replica firearms (and potentially other categories) is strictly restricted to individuals aged 21 or over.

Verification Process: Age verification process (e.g., requesting proof of age before processing the order, confirmation that delivery will only be accepted by someone over 18).

6. Volent Crime Reduction Act 2006 (VCR Act)

The sale of Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIFs) is heavily restricted in the UK. We can only supply RIFs to individuals or organisations who meet one of the specific exemptions outlined by the Act. These exemptions primarily cover:

  • Museums or Galleries: For public display or historical collection.
  • Theatrical Productions: For use in film, television, or stage performances.
  • Historical Re-enactments: For organised and insured re-enactment events.
  • Crown Servants: For official duties.
  • Registered Airsoft Players: For participation in insured skirmishing activities (typically requiring UKARA registration).

Proof of Exemption is Mandatory: To process any order for a Realistic Imitation Firearm, you will be required to provide verifiable documentary proof that you or your organisation falls under one of these legal exemptions. This typically includes, but is not limited to:

  • Official letter on headed paper from the organisation (e.g., museum, theatre company, re-enactment group) confirming its status and the intended use of the RIF.
  • Evidence of Public Liability Insurance relevant to the exemption activity.
  • For airsoft players, a valid UKARA membership number which we will verify through the official database.
  • Official identification and supporting documentation for Crown Servants.
  • Final Confirmation via Video Call / In-Person Meeting: After successful submission and review of all required documentary proof, a mandatory video call or in-person meeting will be arranged for final verification and confirmation of your eligibility. This step ensures an additional layer of security and compliance before any RIF is dispatched.

Your order will not be processed until all satisfactory proof of exemption is received, verified, and the final video call/in-person meeting is successfully completed. We reserve the right to refuse any sale where adequate proof cannot be provided or verified at any stage of this process. By placing an order for a Realistic Imitation Firearm, you declare that you meet one of the specified legal exemptions and agree to provide all necessary supporting documentation and partake in the final verification process.

7. Customer Responsibility for Local Laws & Import Regulations

It is the sole responsibility of the customer to understand and comply with all local, national, and international laws and regulations pertaining to the purchase, ownership, importation, and use of any items ordered from Garrison Point.

  • You are fully aware of any and all applicable import duties, taxes, customs fees, and any other charges that may be levied by your country's authorities. These charges are not included in our prices and are your responsibility.
  • Garrison Point disclaims all responsibility for items seized, confiscated, delayed, or returned by customs authorities due to non-compliance with local laws or import regulations. In such cases, no refunds will be issued for the item(s) or shipping costs, and any additional costs incurred by us (e.g., return shipping, customs fees on return) will be deducted from any potential refund or charged to the customer. We urge all international customers to contact their local customs office or legal authorities prior to placing an order to ensure a smooth and lawful transaction.

8. Disclaimer of Responsibility for Misuse

All items sold by Garrison Point are intended for lawful, historical, educational, and legitimate collecting or display purposes only. They are not sold with any implied or express warranty of fitness for any operational purpose, nor are they intended for actual use, harm, or any illegal activity.

By purchasing items from Garrison Point, the customer acknowledges and expressly agrees that:

  • They are solely responsible for the safe and lawful handling, storage, and use of any purchased item.

  • The customer indemnifies Garrison Point against any and all claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) that may arise from the customer's misuse or unlawful actions involving products obtained from us.

We strongly urge all customers to exercise extreme caution and responsibility when handling historical artifacts, particularly those with the potential for harm if misused

Return and Refund Policy

Garrison Point

At Garrison Point, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase of historical militaria. We understand that buying unique, historical items online requires trust, and we are committed to upholding your consumer rights.

This policy outlines your rights and our procedures for returns and refunds.

1. Your Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period) - Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013

As a consumer in the UK, you have a legal right to cancel your order and return goods within 14 calendar days without giving any reason.

  • Cancellation Period: This 14-day period begins the day after you (or someone you nominate) receive the last item in your order.
  • How to Cancel: To exercise your right to cancel, you must inform us of your decision by a clear statement (e.g., an email or letter sent by post). Please send your cancellation request to: [Your Customer Service Email Address] or [Your Postal Address]. We will acknowledge receipt of your cancellation request promptly.
  • Returning the Goods After Cancellation: Once you have informed us of your cancellation, you must send the goods back to us within a further 14 calendar days.

2. Condition of Returned Goods for Change-of-Mind Returns

For returns made under your right to cancel (change of mind), the following conditions apply:

  • Original Condition: Items must be returned in the exact condition in which they were received, unused, and, where possible, in their original packaging with all accompanying documentation (e.g., certificates, tags, labels).
  • Militaria Specifics: Due to the historical and collectible nature of our items, we cannot accept returns for items that have been:
    • Damaged, broken, or altered in any way after receipt.
    • Disassembled, reassembled, or tampered with.
    • Cleaned, polished, or modified in a manner that diminishes their historical patina or original state.
    • Any item that cannot be restored to its original condition as sent out by us.
  • Diminished Value: If the value of the goods has been diminished by any unnecessary handling by you beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods (e.g., handling beyond what would be allowed in a shop), we reserve the right to deduct an amount from the refund, up to the full price of the item.

3. Refunds for Change-of-Mind Returns

  • Refund Timeline: Once we receive the returned goods (or proof of postage demonstrating they have been returned), we will process your refund within 14 calendar days.
  • Refund Method: The refund will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase.
  • Postage Costs:
    • We will refund the basic delivery cost you paid (the cheapest delivery option we offer). If you chose a more expensive delivery method (e.g., expedited shipping), we will only refund the cost of our standard delivery.
    • You are responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods to us. Garrison Point recommends the Royal Mail Tracked service as a minimum. We cannot be responsible for items lost or damaged in return transit.

4. Faulty Goods or Items Not As Described - Consumer Rights Act 2015

Your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 state that goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and match their description.

  • Reporting a Fault/Discrepancy: If you believe an item is faulty or significantly not as described upon receipt, you must notify us immediately or within a reasonable timeframe (ideally within 30 days of receipt) at [Your Customer Service Email Address]. Please provide details of the fault or discrepancy and supporting photographs.
  • Assessment: We will assess the item upon its return. Please note that "not as described" refers to significant discrepancies from our detailed product descriptions, not to inherent characteristics of age, wear, or patina that were clearly stated or visible in the product images.
  • Your Remedies: If the item is confirmed to be genuinely faulty or significantly not as described:
    • Within 30 days of receipt: You have the right to a full refund.
    • After 30 days: You may be entitled to a repair or replacement. If a repair or replacement is not possible or disproportionate, you may be entitled to a partial or full refund.
  • Return Shipping for Faulty Items: We will cover the reasonable cost of return postage for items that are genuinely faulty or significantly not as described. To facilitate this, Garrison Point will arrange a Royal Mail pre-paid house pickup service. All that is required from you, the buyer, is to seal the item safely and securely in its original packaging (standard or better protection). Garrison Point will contact you to arrange suitable dates and times for the pickup.

5. Exclusions from Our Return Policy

The right to cancel and return goods generally does not apply to:

  • Items that have been damaged or altered by the customer after receipt (as detailed in section 2).
  • Items where the reason for return is based on an inherent characteristic (e.g., "second-user" condition, wear, patina) that was clearly stated in the product description and evident in accompanying photographs.
  • Any items specifically marked as non-returnable at the point of sale (e.g., bespoke or personalised items, if you ever offer these).
  • Any items where legal obligations prevent return (e.g., certain security-sealed items if seals are broken - less common for militaria).

Please note that your statutory rights regarding faulty or mis-described goods cannot be excluded or limited by these terms.

6. How to Return Items (General Guidance)

  1. Contact Us First: Always contact us at [Your Customer Service Email Address] before returning any item to obtain a Return Authorisation.
  2. Packaging: Securely pack the item, ideally in its original packaging, to prevent damage during transit. Include a copy of your original order confirmation or a note with your order number and reason for return.
  3. Shipping:
    • For faulty/not as described items: We will arrange the Royal Mail pre-paid pickup as detailed in section 4.
    • For change-of-mind returns: Send the item to: [Your Full Return Address]. For your protection, especially for valuable items, we recommend using a recorded, tracked, and insured delivery service, as we cannot be responsible for items lost or damaged in return transit.

7. Order Cancellation by Garrison Point

We reserve the right to cancel orders as outlined in our 'Ordering & Payment' Terms, including for reasons such as failure of age/exemption verification, stock unavailability, or suspected fraudulent activity. In such cases, a full refund will be issued, subject to any non-refundable processing fees detailed in our 'Ordering & Payment' section (e.g., for failed verification where stated).

By purchasing from Garrison Point, you agree to this Returns & Refunds Policy. If you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Garrison Point AI Content Policy

Commitment: Garrison Point leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance our digital presence, communication, and operational support, including the creation of imagery for advertising. We are committed to using AI responsibly, upholding the highest standards of accuracy, transparency, and trust with the public and our personnel.

Principles:

  1. Transparency: AI-generated or significantly AI-altered content, especially imagery used in advertisements, will be clearly disclosed to ensure users understand its origin.
  2. Accuracy & Integrity: All AI-assisted content undergoes rigorous human review to ensure factual accuracy, prevent misinformation, and align with our values and the integrity expected of our advertising.
  3. Human Oversight: Human judgment and accountability remain paramount. AI serves as a tool to augment, not replace, human decision-making and content creation for all digital platforms, including advertising campaigns.
  4. Ethical Use: We ensure AI use adheres to ethical guidelines, mitigating biases and avoiding any content that could misrepresent, mislead, or harm, particularly in promotional materials.
  5. Data Security: Sensitive or classified information is never used as input for public-facing AI tools.

Disclosure: Imagery content for advertisements and other visual content created or substantially modified using AI (such as Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot) will include a prominent disclaimer, such as:

  • "AI-Generated Image."
  • "Image created with AI for illustrative/advertising purposes."
  • "AI-enhanced visual for promotion."
  • (Optional, for specific emphasis): "Created with AI using Gemini/Copilot technologies."

Approval & Review: All AI-generated content, including advertising materials, is subject to strict human review and approval processes by [Designated Authority, e.g., Public Affairs, Webmaster, Marketing Director] before publication. This policy will be regularly reviewed and updated to adapt to evolving AI technologies and best practices in both content creation and advertising.

Key Changes and Why They're Important:

  • Explicitly mentions "imagery content for advertising": This clarifies the scope and addresses the specific area you inquired about.
  • Integrates Gemini and Copilot naturally: By mentioning them as examples of tools used, it implicitly recognizes their role without making the policy solely about them. The optional specific mention "Created with AI using Gemini/Copilot technologies" gives you an even more direct way to acknowledge them if you choose, particularly for certain campaigns.
  • Emphasizes "integrity expected of our advertising": This subtly links the AI policy to broader advertising ethics and standards.
  • Adjusted "Approval & Review" for advertising: Added "Marketing Director" as a potential designated authority, as marketing often has its own approval chains.

This revised policy maintains its compactness while directly addressing your need to recognize the use of Gemini and Copilot for advertising imagery. Remember to get it reviewed by your legal counsel.

Recognition: To Google Gemini and Microsoft CoPilot for producing content
